Joining Us in Year 7

OPEN EVENING SEPTEMBER 2025

 

The date of our Open Evening is Thursday 18th September between 4pm and 7pm.  Visitors to the school will be able to join a guided tour and meet some of the staff and students who will be very glad to answer any questions.

 

Mrs Jethwa will give speeches at 4pm and 6pm.

 

OPEN MORNINGS

 

There will be the opportunity to book onto a tour of the school with an experienced member of staff in the week beginning Monday 22nd September.  Tours will take place at 9.10am and 11.30 am.

Please contact the school office if you and your child would like to join one of the tours.

 

Welcome information for students joining us in September 2025

 

Welcome to Abbs Cross. We are very much looking forward to meeting you at the events listed below and to working with you in the years to come.

You will soon receive a letter giving more details about the transition process, but in the meantime, please make a note of the following events that we will run to ensure that you make a successful start to your time at Abbs Cross Academy.

 

Key Dates for Students Joining Abbs Cross in September 2025

Key dates for your diary:

 

1.      Admissions Interviews – Monday 19th – Friday 23rd May

 

You will be invited into school to fill in an admission form. The time of your appointment will be sent out to you shortly. The admissions interview allows us to gather vital information and to begin to build a working relationship between school and home. The interview itself will last approximately 10 minutes, but we ask you to arrive 15 minutes early so that you have time to complete the necessary paperwork.

Please bring proof of your child’s id and address, and a recent passport sized photograph of your child.

 

2.      Induction Day – Friday 27th June

 

Students are invited to spend the day with us in order to begin to familiarise themselves with the way that secondary schools work. Taster lessons and other activities will run and there will be opportunity for students to begin to get to know other members of their form.

Students should arrive in their current school’s uniform, bring pens and pencils ,and should also make sure that they have a packed lunch and a drink.

Students should arrive at 8.45am. The school day will end at 3.00pm.

 

3.      Meet the Tutor – Tuesday 8th July

 

Students and parents/carers will be invited into school to meet their Year 7 tutor.

Mrs Jethwa will give a short speech before students move to their Year 7 tutor room where they will learn more about their school.

You will soon receive a letter inviting you to attend the Meet the Tutor event at either 4.45pm or 5.15pm.
