New York City 2023
BackA group of 20 pupils visited New York for six days. After checking into a central Manhattan hotel, they spent the first evening sightseeing around Times Square.
During the trip pupils visited the Financial District and Wall Street to have an educational tour that described how financial decisions made in America influence commercial banking, interest rates and exchange rates around the world. The tour included a visit to the 9/11 Memorial where pupils could pay their respects and go up to the viewing platform on the 102nd floor to take in the views of Manhattan.
Dinner that evening was at the world-famous Ellen’s Stardust Diner where celebrities such as Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Donald Trump Jr visit frequently. The day ended by going up the Top of The Rock where pupils were able to take in breathtaking 360 views of New York.
Pupils took full advantage of the sightseeing with an open top bus tour of Uptown and Downtown New York. Pupils also enjoyed a visit to The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island where pupils learnt about the history of American immigration.
Pupils were eager to try the various street foods on offer in New York and were excited to go shopping in some of the retail businesses such as Macey’s, Sephora and the NBA Store that they are familiar with due to studying Business Studies. During the evening pupils enjoyed the boisterous crowd that gathered to watch the New York Yankees play baseball.
All pupils were all intrigued by the way learning inside the classroom can be seen in practice on the busy streets of New York.
