Year 8 Netball match against Frances Bardsley
BackThe Year 8 netball team faced Frances Bardsley in their most recent fixture on Thursday, 16th January. The first quarter was evenly matched, with Abbs maintaining 50% possession. However, despite solid efforts, we were unable to capitalise on our attacks, allowing Frances Bardsley to edge ahead.
In the second quarter, we made strategic changes by moving Jasmine and Katelyn into different positions and shifting Chloe and Lucy from attack to defence. Unfortunately, our possession dropped compared to the first quarter and Frances Bardsley extended their lead. This left us trailing at halftime, with the score remaining just out of reach.
The third quarter saw Abigail step into the goal shooter position, achieving an impressive 100% success rate. Meanwhile, Alisa and Charlotte excelled in the defensive circle, holding their ground against Frances Bardsley’s exceptionally tall attacking shooters. Their defensive rebounds and outstanding stage-two defensive play were key highlights of the match.
Despite the final score of 16–4 in Frances Bardsley’s favour, the team took many positives from the game. It was clear that gameplay is improving with every match, and the team should be proud of their efforts. Well done to all the players involved for making it an enjoyable and valuable evening of netball.
