Borough Athletics Competitions

On 17^th and 19^th May, selected students from Years 7 to 10 were invited to Cricketfields Stadium to compete in the Borough Athletics competition.

This day consisted of events including: shot put, javelin, discus, long jump, high jump, triple jump and track events such as hurdles, 100M, 200M, 300M, 800M, 1500M and the 4x100M relay.

Students were amazing throughout the day, having smiles on their faces whilst the sun was shining.

On the first day (Years 7 and 8), we had 4 students finish on the podium:

• Adam won GOLD in the Triple Jump
• Irfan won BRONZE in the 300M
• Lawate won BRONZE in shot put
• Jacob won BRONZE in discus

On day 2 (Years 9 and 10), we had many students finish on the podium:

• Kaiden won GOLD in 100M, running a time of 11.20 seconds, which is a podium standard in English Schools Athletics!
• Wisdom won GOLD in high jump, jumping 1.65M
• Deborah won BRONZE in long jump, jumping 4M
• Joel won SILVER in Triple Jump jumping 11.82M
• Joel also won SILVER in the Hurdles
• The Year 9 Boys’ 4x100M relay team (Paradise, Joel, Kofi, Miquel, Kaiden) took GOLD

Students were a credit to the school and although not all are mentioned above, we had many students finish 4^th in their event. Well done to all the students involved.
