Havering Swimming gala 2024.

Back
February 12th 2024

On Tuesday 30th January and Wednesday 31st January the Havering schools swimming
galas took place hosted by Abbs Cross. A very successful competition was held on both days
with many successes from Abbs Cross swimmers. We had a plethora of helpers ranging from
our year eight and nine leadership academies to GCSE students used as timekeepers and
runners for the event. Each and every student was a credit to Abbs Cross and the events
could not have taken place without their help. We had some notable successes throughout
the competitions and a record number of entries into the final races. Year seven Jasmine
Kimble finished third in her backstroke event, swimming an excellent race as did the girls
year seven medley relay team and the boys freestyle relay team in year seven.  In year eight,
James Aroni finished second in his backstroke final along with the freestyle relays in both
the boys and girls team finishing in third position. Lola Demiri inYear 8 swam an excellent
butterfly race, finishing third. Most notable result in year nine was Amy Gimbird who swam
a brilliant backstroke race, beating the opposition and finishing first as Havering schools
backstroke year nine champion. Congratulations must go out to her. Ionella Ciurea swam a
great race in front crawl finishing in third position as did Ethan Jackson in year 11 in his
butterfly event. Well done to all competitors for an extremely successful event.
