Year 7 Rounders Rally – July 2024
BackAbbs Cross started with a rocky start against Sanders losing 3.5- 2 rounders. However, Katelyn was player of the match for getting multiple people out at second base. Also, there were two great hits by Jasmine and Chloe, getting one and a half rounders in total between them.
Even though we upped our game, Abbs unfortunately lost to Coopers 4.5 to 2.5. Even though we lost by two rounders there were some great hits and amazing fielding with superstar Katelyn at shortstop being named player of the match. Sophie scored a rounder by making a good hit that flew past first base. Beau, our left hander, stepped up and hit a fantastic bowl, gaining another full round for the team. The team were in the lead until the last four balls of the game where they unfortunately slipped up. Even though we lost 6.5 to 4.5 against Redden Court, there were great performances from Katelyn catching balls and getting their number one batter out. However, that was not the last person she got out - she managed to gain four more also. Even though she missed the ball, Jasmine made it all the way to 4th to gain half a rounder for our team and Abigail then had a huge hit and sprinted to the end - with so much time, she forgot to stump the post but she still managed to get back and stump it in time eventually. Our amazing backstop Lucy claimed the name of player of the match, managing to get perfect balls back to the bowler and shortstop after backward hits.
Upping our game each time, the team improved every game, listening to Miss Pilling’s amazing tactics and playing confidently at times. Even though we lost we came close in all of our matches with some superstar players. Our captain, Lucy, was excellent and she was named player of the match in the last game. Sophie, Jasmine, Beau and Abigail were fantastic batters throughout, managing to gain rounders. Our bowlers Jasmine and Abigail swapped between the games and had excellent matches. They were able to bowl accurately and didn’t give away a single half a rounder.
Overall, some good rounders. Well done, everyone.
