THE RIOT ACT” PASSENGER ROAD SAFETY PRESENTATION, TO YEAR 10:
BackTHURSDAY 27TH JANUARY 2025. PERIOD 5.
“On Thursday 27th January Year 10 experienced a presentation in the School Hall on “Passenger Road Safety”. The presentation was produced and delivered by a drama group, “The Riot Act”, based in Huddersfield.
The presentation, given by three young actors, was designed to illustrate to our students the inherent dangers and risks they may experience when being a passenger in a car with an inexperienced driver. The presentation looked, through the medium of drama, at how to manage potentially dangerous situations that may arise. It fully engaged our students, illustrating a range of potential scenarios, and pinpointed how to both recognise, and discreetly and safely act upon, potentially hazardous behaviours, of both drivers and passengers.
The presentation was delivered in a caring and sensitive fashion, avoiding sensationalising or overly dramatising risky behaviours. Clear points were made, and advice given in a sensible and logical fashion, with students’ views frequently sought.
It was a positive and pro-active delivery, and one which we believe will benefit our students in the future.”
