Year 8 Netball Final League Game- A Strong Finish!

Back
February 27th 2025

On Tuesday, 24th February, the Year 8 netball team played their final game of the Havering District League against Hornchurch High, away at their school.

The first quarter was incredibly tense, with a narrow 2-1 lead in Abbs Cross’s favour. Unfortunately, due to illness, we were only able to field six players, but the team worked incredibly hard despite being a player down. In the second quarter, we managed to maintain our one-goal advantage, showing resilience and teamwork.

As the game progressed, we started to pull away, scoring two more goals than Hornchurch High in the third quarter. The team displayed outstanding defensive work, with Charlotte and Chloe putting in a brilliant shift to protect our circle. Abigail’s speed in the centre court was a huge advantage, and she played exceptionally well. Jasmine and Katelyn formed a fantastic attacking partnership, creating great opportunities, while Lucy made numerous crucial interceptions in both attack and defence.

The final moments of the game were incredibly tense. Despite our best efforts, Hornchurch High managed to score in the last 30 seconds, edging ahead by just one point. Although the result didn’t go our way, this was the best netball the team has played all season, showing real determination and progress.

We now turn our focus to the netball rally in March and will continue building on this strong performance in our Thursday after-school training sessions.

Well done to all the girls involved, a fantastic end to our league debut!
